BYD to output BYF M6 to gain marketshare in China

Despite that the Shanghai Auto Show 2009 opens in very bad times for the auto industry, BYD, the ever challenging car manufacturer based in Shenzhen is adding more and more references in its car catalog. Electric cars is its motto since the very beginning, but if you think that a company that originally manufactures cell phone batteries has only strong assets in electric cars, you are wrong. Because this year, BYD auto is showing in it 1100 square meter booth that it has more than the trendy electric vehicles to show. This year, maybe a turning year for the chinese carmakers, BYD auto which has no the BYD F0, F3,F3R, F6 is unveiling the S8 and M6 an MPV with modern design looking.

BYD M6, Shenzhen car manufacturer faces a new challenge

Because the F serie (especially F3) has reached a plateau, BYD Auto need to expand its range of vehicles. The M6 MPV that BYD Auto is unveiling at the Shanghai Auto Show 2009. The nice surprise is that BYD M6 MPV isn't looking ugly at all. It is nice shaped and by judging the photos, the finition is good. Very promising.

BYD M6 MPV specifications

BYD Auto has listed the main characteristics of the BYD M6 MPV, general dimensions are 4808mm×1800mm×1756mm, the distance between the wheels is 2950mm. The engine has a displacement of 2.4L for the automatic gearbox version, and 2.0L for the manual gearbox version. BYD Auto ahs Mitsubishi as a supplier for the engines for the ubiquitous 4G69, but BYD auto also manufactures its own engines hopefully future successfull BYD483. Those two engines also equip the BYD F6. For those who are still skeptical about the chinese technology, these engines allow the cars to pass the Euro IV standards.

It will be sold in the 3 dealer network named A1, A2 and A3. In 2009, BYD Auto will be selling 5 new models. 2009 will be a turning year for BYD auto. China has become the world's first auto market, the chinese carmakers will strengthen their positions in China before going abroad. Their quest has begun in a time when the US carmakers are falling.
